What is the Blackwatch Feed Program?

The Blackwatch Feed Programs have been used by breeders and owners for the past 28 years with great success. At the basis of this program is the food called Precise/PrecisePlus (USA)

The reality is, there is no 100% complete dog/cat commercial food on the market, there are only minimum AAFCO standards for nutrients. Therefore there are healthy living components we can add to our pet's diet that will enhance their nutrition, and not disrupt the balance of the calcium and phosphorus ratios.

Internationally there is Precept Plus and ANF line of pet foods foods.

Relatively New Science

The science animal nutrition is a relatively new science, and we know the minimum requirements needed in order to sustain life, but not necessarily what is needed to flourish and be the picture of health and have greater longevity.

The term "100% complete" means a food must meet minimum AAFCO's nutrient standards. It is true, some of the top natural pet foods, including the brands that I whole heartedly endorse, do exceed the basic AAFCO minimum standards, which is why the animals do so well on these natural holistic diets.

There has not been enough research done to determine the maximums levels of many nutrients need to be and what "other" unknown nutritional factors that are found in nature that might to necessary to include in our diets. I know in many of the better foods on the market they ignore the use of "bio available" trace and lack the 60+ micro minerals which are critical for the body's (electrical) system (endocrine system) which is the power plant that runs the body.

One Example:

In the human health the latest research over the past few years has focused on Vitamin D requirements. For so long we have been told 400 International Units a day is more than adequate. Now they have connected so many diseases and conditions to the fact that most people have severe Vitamin D (D3) deficiencies, they are now recommending tests done to know your actual Vitamin D levels. But dealing with large and giant breeds for almost 40 years years, I have come to realize through my own research and feed trials that the large/giant breeds have special nutritional needs which lead to my CORE 4 approach, regardless the "method" of feeding; kibble, homemade, grain free, dehydrated or raw.

What is in the CORE 4?

The CORE 4 is a series of 4 critical supplements which come in 3 containers and they are necessary to enhance your current feeding program and promote wellness for your pet. The CORE 4 is the most "basic" supplements that all my pets are fed on a daily basis - this is a "life long" program.

The CORE 4 consists of the following:

1) Probiotics - a blend of 6 beneficial bacteria plus 2 that are micro-encapsulated so they release in the lower digestive tract and not be killed off by stomach acid. They break down further in the intestines to help resolve difficult digestive issues caused by Candida Albicans (yeast), Coccidia, Giardia Protozoa, parasite infestation, E coli, Salmonella, Clostridium, and Herpes Virus.

Probiotics or DFM's are known to protect the lining of the gut, helping to protect the mucus lining and prevent Leaky Gut Syndrome and prevent pathogenic (bad) bacteria and fungus to over grow in the digestive tract. Keeping the lining of the gut healthy and the pH of the gut healthy as well which helps in the prevention of bloat/torsion, compromised health, systemic yeast infections and suppressed immune systems.

2) Digestive Enzymes - Digestive enzymes are often found in a combination probiotic product. There are many enzymes that help to break down the food for better digestion. The 4 that are of most importance are amylase (carbohydrates) protease (protein), lipase (fats) and cellulase for fiber. Multiple digestive enzyme blends are beneficial in the destruction of fungi in the gut (protease and cellulase). The are critical in getting the most nutrition out of the foods you are feeding; kibble, raw, dehydrated, homemade, grain free, and they help take the load of the pancreas, which helps preserve the body and can help prevent diabetes.

3) Dietary Enzymes - these enzymes are the kind people and dog food companies don't even recognize but are critical for their anti-aging properties. They come from a variety of sprouted foods (barley, wheat, soy, corn) and have the most living enzymatic activity. Only in whole fresh foods are the enzymatic qualities still in tact. Using dietary enzymes put the "living component" back into a processed dog food, dehydrated and raw that has been stored and homemade cooked foods. Dietary enzymes have strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties and they detoxify the body at a cellular level, which speeds any healing and repair. THESE ARE CRITICAL TO HELP PREVENT VACCINE REACTIONS so common in Great Danes, and especially any dogs carrying the merle gene.

4) Ox-E-Drops - this liquid concentrate helps to keep a healthy the pH in the gut so pathogenic bacteria and fungus such as Candida Albicans (yeast overgrowth) does not over growth and make the dogs more prone to bloat and systemic yeast infections. These drops come in a concentrated form and have many internal and topical uses when diluted. It has powerful oxidizing properties that act as a bactericide, viricide and fungicide.

In other words, you can use this on newborn and older puppies, as well as adults to help with parvo, clostridium overgrowth and other pathogens that might effect your puppies or adults.

Note: I use it in my pets drinking water and diluted drops in their daily meals. It can be used in a 2% solution (1 cup distilled water + 1 teaspoon of Ox-E-Drops) and used to clean ears, spray on wounds, colonics or douches for Pyometra in bitches.

For eye washes use 1/2 teaspoon Ox-E-Drops in 1 cup of water.

Because Ox-E-Drops decontaminates water, it should be taken with you when you travel, no need to haul dog water from home. It can be used internally and in a vaporizer (30 drops to 1 gallon) for respiratory problems in dogs and cats. Many rescues keep their cattery free from respiratory problems with the use of vaporizers and Ox-E-Drops.

INCORPORATING THE CORE 4 SUPPLEMENTS:

When you start to use one of the Blackwatch CORE 4 Supplement Kits in your pet's daily feeding routine, please add each supplement 2-3 days apart until your pet is used to everything, then you can use them all together daily.

Always ease into new supplements.

Start with:

1) Probiotic/Digestive Enzymes combo- 2 days later add:
2) Ox-E Drops in the food (diluted in a little water) and a few drops in the drinking water -see bottle for dosage. 2 days later add:
3) Dietary Enzymes - in a pet treats or granules form.

Note: But due to the heavy duty detoxification qualities from the dietary enzymes phyto nutrients, do not double dose the pet right away or you will have some loose stools, lethargy etc. Sometimes it says it on their label to double dose, depending on the brand you get, but please don't start off with a double dose.

I suggest working up to a maintenance dose over a week's time, then you can double dose for two weeks during the detoxification process, then go back to a maintenance dosage, daily. The last thing you need is to have them going to the bathroom in the middle of the night or in a crate while you are at work because they detoxified too fast.

I give all the supplements in the AM feeding and once they are used to them you can too, but my suggestion is to divide them in AM and PM feedings, until their body's are used to new foods and supplements.
