INTRODUCTION

I am writing to introduce you to a wonderful line up of Holistic pet foods, Precept Plus and ANF Holistic, that I use and endorse in my Overseas Blackwatch Feed Programs, and here at GreatDaneLady.com

First, I want to give you some background, then explain how to use the Precept Plus and ANF Holistic lines of pet foods, to replace the Eagle Pet Foods. In the late 1980's my research and feed trials in large/giant breed growth were the basis for the design of Eagle Natural Pack, and later the Eagle Super Premium Large/Giant Breed Puppy formulas. I have worked as a nutritional consultant for Eagle for the past 22 years until April 8, 2009, when I resigned due to deep philosophical differences with the new ownership of the company.

In 2007 Eagle Pet Foods was acquired by Berwind Industries and Wellness (OMH Pet Foods) was acquired by Berwind in 2008 and in 2009 the two companies were merged into a single entity called WellPet LLC. Regrettably, due to changes in management personnel, style of management, removal of key individuals, the ceasing of overseas distribution of Eagle, and deep philosophical differences with WellPet LLC, I no longer endorse or feed the Eagle Pet Food product line.

After much research and thoughtful consideration, I made the decision to feed and endorse the Precept Plus and ANF Holistic product line for my own pets, and for our puppy buyers overseas.

I am very impressed with quality and visionary design of the Precept, Precept Plus and ANF Holistic lines and am confident with their manufacturing facilities with a 100% safety record
insures the customer of a quality product. Having total control of the product from food sources to distribution end of their product line, sets Kodo International apart from other pet food companies.

As a professional breeder of Great Danes and Pugs for 36 years, it is of the utmost importance that the quality of ingredients, the manufacturing facility and the design of the product line be the very best available for my pets and the puppies I sell overseas. PRECEPT PLUS LINE EXPANDED

I am excited about the new Holistic Precept Plus line up that is expanded to 9 Holistic Canine Formulas and 5 feline formulas. They will be introduced the middle of June 2009.

As of May 1, 2009 the following Precept Plus products are available to you and they do provide you with many options until the whole line is released mid-June 2009.

Precept Plus Puppy Formula - 32% protein/ 18% fat

This is a very versatile formula that will support growth in toy, small and medium breeds, and it would work well for pregnancy and lactation in all breeds due to calories and calcium levels.

It is an excellent formula for dogs that need to gain weight and adult dogs that need more energy and weight for showing, agility, obedience and working. This formula also has fruits/veggies and botanicals along with glucosamine to support joint health for young growing puppies and for working dogs. (I do not recommend this formula for large giant breed puppy growth due to protein/fat levels), but it is ideal for small/medium breeds - that mature under 45 lbs of age.

(This food could replace Eagle Power formula (30/20), Holistic Mini-Toy Puppy and Adult Mini-Toy Breed formulas, Eagle SP Small/Medium Breed Puppy formulas).

Precept Plus Canine Adult Formula - 26% protein 16% fat

This is a good basic over all life stage formula for adults of all breeds - including large/giant adults and senior dogs. Because of the calcium levels, this food will support large/giant breed puppy growth and seniors. It has fruits/veggies/botanicals and glucosamine to support joint health for growth and for seniors. (large breeds are dogs that mature at 50 lbs and over). (This food could replace Eagle Holistic Chicken, the Holistic Large/Giant Breed Puppy and Adult formulas, Holistic Senior and Eagle Original, Eagle Natural.)

1) Adult Canine Foundation Formula - 24% protein 14% fat

This is a good basic over all life stage formula for adults. It has fruits/veggies/botanicals and glucosamine to support joint health for growth and for seniors. (large breeds are dogs that mature at 50 lbs and over). (This food would replace Eagle Holistic Chicken, the Holistic Large/Giant Breed Adult formulas, Eagle Original, Eagle Natural.)

2) Puppy Formula - 30% protein/ 19% fat

This is a very versatile formula that will support growth in toy, small and medium breeds, and it would work well for pregnancy and lactation in all breeds due to calories/fat and calcium levels. It is an excellent formula for dogs that need to gain weight and adult dogs that need more energy and weight for showing, agility, obedience and working. This formula also has fruits/veggies and botanicals along with glucosamine to support joint health for puppies and for working dogs. (I do not recommend this formula for large giant breed puppy growth due to protein/fat levels), but it is ideal for small/medium breeds - that mature under 45 lbs of age. 3). Adult Large Breed Formula - 24% protein/12% fat

A three protein formula; chicken, fish, eggs to help hold strong muscle mass on large/giant breeds. With fruits/vegetable, botanicals, glucosamine for joint support and added taurine and carnitine for heart heath, this makes an ideal diet for your large/giant breed adults. (equal to Eagle Original, Natural Pack, Holistic Large Breed Adult formulas, Holistic Chicken, Natural Pack)

4) Junior - Large Breed Puppy 27% protein 14% fat

A three protein formula (chicken, fish, eggs) to help build strong muscle mass and adequate calcium levels to support large/giant breed growth. With fruits/vegetables, botanicals, glucosamine for joint support and added taurine and carnitine for heart heath, this makes an ideal diet for your large/giant breed puppies. When feeding large breed puppies, never leave
food down all day long and divide recommended daily amount into 2/3 meals.
See Amount To Feed Chart. It is important to not overfeed your puppy. Keep them
well covered but not fat. The last rib should be visible on a smooth coated breed or
palpable on a coated breed.

5) Endurance Formula 30% protein/20% fat

A three protein formula; chicken, fish, eggs to help build and hold strong muscle mass on dogs that are working - intense activity such as showing, guarding, herding, obedience, agility or are in need of a rescue and repair diet. This high powered formula will repair after intense working activity - it will support pregnancy and lactation and best use in second month of pregnancy. With fruits/vegetable, botanicals, glucosamine for joint support and added taurine and carnitine for heart heath, this makes an ideal diet for your real working dog. (equal to Eagle Power Pack and Small Breed Puppy Formula)

6). Lamb & Sweet Potato Formula - 22% protein/12% fat

This formula is a complete diet for all life stages, but it is designed as a single source protein for sensitive stomachs and for allergies. (equal to Eagle Holistic Lamb and Rice and supports growth if needed for a puppy with a protein allergy. Note: single source protein foods do not prevent food allergies and should not be fed to try and prevent them. They should be used only if a dog is diagnosed with an allergy. Most allergies are to proteins not grains.)

7. Senior Formula 24% protein 10% fat

A visionary Senior formula because it provides enough protein to hold muscle mass and energy levels which are important in aging dogs. The fat content is high enough to keep good coats and shedding to a minimum yet not so high to add excess weight to an aging dog. This formula has all the valuable functional foods such as fruits, vegetable, botanicals and added taurine and carnitine for heart support and glucosamine for joint support. Ideal food for weight loss diet for long term use or for Phase 2 of a weight loss program because it will hold energy levels and muscle mass. (equal to Eagle Holistic Senior and Eagle Active Maturity).

8. Competition Formula 26% protein 16% fat

A three protein formula; chicken, fish, eggs to help hold energy levels on all breeds that lead active lives. With fruits/vegetable, botanicals, glucosamine for joint support and added taurine and carnitine for heart heath, this makes an ideal diet for your active adults dogs - all breeds and for the older large/giant breed puppies (past 10 months) that you want to show and put muscle and weight on the dog. (equal to Eagle Original, Holistic Large Breed Adult)

9. Weight Control Formula 18% protein 8% fat

Weight control formula is a temporary diet for a very overweight dog. A dog whose health is compromised due to weight and it needs to drop pounds quickly. My preference is to use a weight control formula for Phase 1 - a month - then move to Phase 2 - a moderate diet such as Precept Plus Senior, to hold muscle mass but not the added calories. With fruits and vegetables, botanicals, glucosamine for joint support and added taurine and carnitine for heart heath, this makes an ideal weight loss diet for phase 1 of the weight loss program. (equal Eagle Reduced Activity Diet)

After 9 Canine formulas are launched, Kodo International will launch the 5 feline formulas. Currently they still have the Precept "Super Premium" line of pet foods. Once the total Holistic Precept Plus line of foods is available to customers, they will gradually phase out the "Super Premium" line of Precept foods.

There are no probitoics/digestive enzymes or *trace minerals (kelp) in this line of foods so you will have to supplement if you want them in your feed program.

Precept Chicken Meal & Rice - 25% protein 15% fat - Adult & Seniors Dogs - all breeds *note: this food does have kelp in it (trace minerals). (this food is equal to Eagle Original) -

Precept Foundation Formula - 24% protein/14% fat - Adult & Seniors Dogs - all breeds(this food is equal to Eagle Original and Active Maturity)

Precept Growth - Large Breed Puppies - 27% protein 16% fat
(this works for large/giant breed adults and working dogs and supports pregnancy and lactation) (nothing in Eagle line that is equal to this food due to higher fat/protein)

Precept Competition Formula - 26% protein/ 16% fat - all breeds - supports pregnancy/lactation, due to calcium levels can be used for large/giant
breed growth. (this food would equal to the Eagle Original)

Precept Light Formula - 18% protein/10% fat Adults only - not for growth, pregnancy.(equal to Eagle Reduced Fat Formula)

There are also 4 Feline Precept Formulas; Foundation, Growth, Lite, Fish Formulas available.

ANF - Holistic Line of Pet Foods

The ADVANCED NUTRITION FORMULA or ANF - has several quality holistic foods available and all include Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes and some have trace minerals*.

1) ANF Holistic Puppy Food 28% protein 18% fat *

It is an excellent formula small/medium breed puppy for growth stages and it will work for dogs that need to gain weight. This formula will work for adult dogs that need more energy and weight for showing, agility, obedience and working and it works for pregnancy and lactation. This formula also has fruits/veggies and botanicals along with glucosamine to support joint health for young growing puppies and for working dogs. (I do not recommend this formula for large giant breed puppy growth due to protein/fat levels), but it is ideal for small/medium breeds - that mature under 45 lbs of age. (this food is equal to Eagle Super Premium Small/Medium breed Puppy food, Holistic Adult and Puppy small/mini breed formulas).

2) ANF Advanced Puppy Formula 33% protein 18% fat

It is an advanced formula small/medium breed puppy for growth stages and it will work for dogs that need to gain weight. This formula will work for adult dogs that need more energy and weight for showing, agility, obedience and working and it works for pregnancy and lactation. This formula also has fruits/veggies and botanicals along with glucosamine to support joint health for young growing puppies and for working dogs. (I do not recommend this formula for large giant breed puppy growth due to protein/fat levels).(this food is equal to Eagle Super Premium Small/Medium breed Puppy food, Holistic Adult and Puppy small/mini breed formulas and Eagle Power Pack formula).

3) ANF Holistic Large Breed Puppy - 28% protein 13% fat

This formula for large breed puppies, has fruits/veggies/botanicals and glucosamine to support joint health for growth. It is very important to for giant breeds that this food only be fed past 8 months of age due to the protein/fat contents. (Large breeds are dogs that mature at 50 lbs and over).(there is no Eagle food equal to this formula)

4) ANF Holistic Canine Adult Formula 24% protein 15% fat *

Adult formula for all breeds, sizes and ages - and it will support growth in young large/giant breed puppies under 8 months of age. It has fruits,veggies and botanicals and joint support supplements included as well as trace minerals needed for giant breed growth.. (this formula is equal to Eagle Original or Eagle Holistic chicken, Eagle Lamb/Rice).

5). ANF Holistic Performance Formula for Adults 30% protein 20% fat

This formula is for intense work or stressful situation, repair and rescue, working dogs; showing, hunting, herding, obedience and agility etc. The include fruits, veggies, botanicals and joint support supplements. It will support pregnancy and lactation.
(equal to Eagle Power Pack).

6). ANF Holistic Lamb Meal & Rice Formula 23% protein 14% fat

ANF Holistic Duck Meal and Potato Formula 24% protein 15% fat*

ANF Holistic Chicken Meal and Rice Formula 26% protein 15% fat

ANF Holistic Fish Meal & Potato Formula 24% protein 15% fat*

All of these are single source protein diets and support "all life stages" .They provide unique proteins and good for the theory of rotation diets. (Equal to Eagle's Holistic, Fish and Duck diets)
These formulas all work as allergy formulas due to single source proteins. I do not suggest single source protein diets for pregnancy and lactation or growth on large breeds under 10 months of age and giant breeds under 18 months of age. (equal to Eagle Holistic Duck & Oatmeal and Eagle Holistic Fish diet).

7. ANF Low Activity Formula (SENIORS) 24% Protein 10% fat

This formula is a excellent formula for Seniors, high enough in protein to hold energy levels and muscle mass yet lower in fat, but not so low that it will compromise the coat. Ideal for seniors all breeds. (equal to Eagle Holistic Senior).
